
Depart at 0935 from London's Heathrow Airport on British Airways flight BA2055 to Lusaka, Zambia. On arrival at 1955 you will be met and taken to stay for one night at Lilayi Lodge (bed and breakfast).

Lilayi Lodge, only 20 minutes drive from Lusaka, is designed in traditional style with luxury thatched rondavels, with one larger building that accommodates the lounge, bar and dining area. In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for a scheduled flight to Mfuwe, South Luangwa. On arrival you will be met and taken to stay for three nights at Tena Tena (fully inclusive of meals and activities).
The South Luangwa Valley in Zambia, is one of the richest and most exciting safari game viewing areas in Africa. The scenery is diverse and typically African dominated by the meandering Luangwa River which floods the area every rainy season leaving beautiful lagoons and small lakes dotted around the extensive valley floor. There is woodland, rich areas of open plain and as you move south you come to the Chendeni Hills which provide excellent walking opportunities.
The wildlife is equally rich and diverse with herds of elephant, particularly large numbers of graceful giraffe, impressive herds of mighty buffalo and over a dozen species of antelope. The South Luangwa is one of the best places for spotting predators and lion, leopard, cheetah and other predators are regularly seen, as well as a host of fascinating smaller creatures such as baboon, warthog and serval.
South Luangwa is particularly good walking country and most days begin with a steady, not tiring, four hour walk with an expert guide and an armed national parks tracker (most of whom have an uncanny sixth sense for spotting the most elusive creatures). In the afternoon you would usually take a drive by open vehicle, perhaps combined with short walks and in the evening after sunset you have the further opportunity for a night time drive when you can see nocturnal creatures such as porcupine and aardvark and predators. This is also a superb birding location with many types of eagle, spectacular colonies of carmine bee-eaters, herons and in all over 350 species of birds.
Tena Tena Safari Camp is one of the finest in Southern Africa, having been set up and managed by Robin and Jo Pope. It comprises six large luxury tents under thatched awnings, each with en suite hot shower and w.c.
The Safari camp has superb views across flood plains to the Luangwa River and elephants and other animals are continually seen from the tents and open thatched dining room and bar.
The surrounding area of grassland and bush supports a wide variety of animals and 380 species of birds, which can be seen on foot and by open vehicle by day and night. Three expert guides tailor each day's activities in accordance with the wishes of each guest.
After your morning activity you will be taken to Mfuwe for a light aircraft flight to Jeki in the Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia. On arrival you will be met and taken for your safari, staying for three nights at Chiawa Safari Camp (fully inclusive of meals and activities).
Situated in the Lower Zambezi National Park, this remote safari camp is family owned and run by the Cumings family.
Chiawa consists of eight spacious comfortable tents, each set on its own elevated timber platform with panoramic views of the wide, slow moving Zambezi River. The tents are insect proof and have twin or double beds with mattresses, and there is solar lighting and spacious semi open en suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water. The honeymoon suite is intimate and romantic, with a bathtub overlooking the river. The camp also serves excellent food, which includes champagne bush breakfasts and outdoor barbecues under the stars.
Activities at Chiawa are varied and led by well trained, enthusiastic guides who are selected for their expertise and love of the bush. You will encounter big game and over 300 species of birds by open 4x4 vehicle, on foot, motor boat and canoe. There is also an opportunity for fishing the infamous tigerfish. During the afternoon you will be transferred by light aircraft back to Lusaka for the 1720 departure on flight SA067 to Johannesburg, South Africa. On arrival at 1925 you will be met and taken to stay for one night at The Westcliff (bed and breakfast).

In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for a South African Airways flight departing at 0955 to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. On arrival at 1420 you will be transferred by air and road to the island of Zanzibar where you will be met and taken to stay for five nights at the superb beach resort, Ras Nungwi (half board with non-motorised watersports).
Located on an expanse of beach wilderness on the northern tip of Zanzibar, and protected by an expansive coral reef, Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel is an ideal location for all water sports, or merely relaxing in the temperate water while soaking up the equatorial sun.
The hotel is built from hand-cut fossilised coral limestone and other natural materials, and literally blends into the landscape.
