On the 8000ft high rim of the Ngorongoro Crater sits Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Needless to say the lodge occupies one of the most spectacular settings of any small luxury hotel.

Inspired by ancient African architecture, the lodge offers a modern and comfortable accommodation in keeping with the natural splendour of its surroundings. Accommodation is set out in three small villages, each of which commands awe-inspiring views of the crater floor below.

The large lodge suites all have a private bathroom, lounge area, huge bed and Victorian bath with a view of the crater below. The open terraces and wide courtyards enhance the lodge's unique location.

In the early morning you might venture down the crater's steep slopes to explore the floor below which teems with animals, heading off further afield as the majority of tourists reach the crater floor. Elephant, giraffe, rhinoceros, lions, and antelope all inhabit this immense and picturesque habitat which is perfect for a photographic safari.
