


Many of Zambia's camps and lodges are very small, some taking j-ust six guests giving the opportunity for some wonderful safaris in privacy.
Setting off just after 6am to track animals and learning the fundamentals of bushcraft as you follow the course of the meandering Luangwa River returning to camp for a hearty breakfast. In the afternoon you can move further afield by open vehicle following big herds of buffalo, zebra and antelope while after dinner a night drive may show you a leopard on the prowl or aardvark and porcupine.
Flanking the Zambezi River is the Lower Zambezi National Park here you can explore the fertile Zambezi floodplains alongside elephant, crocodile and hippos. A little further west is Kafue National Park which offers a great diversity of mammal species - Kafue boasts eighteen different types of antelope and six types of cat in one national park. Nearby are the Busanga Plains ; home to millions of smaller antelope and tree climbing lions.
A safari in Zambia combines well with a trip to Victoria Falls to admire the mile wide waterfall and enjoy rafting or a sundowner cruise.
You could easily spend over two weeks on vacation exploring Zambia, or enjoy just a few days and combine it with Lake Malawi.
Strongly seasonal Zambia and should be visited between May and the end of October to avoid the rainy seasons when most camps and lodges close.
For an adventurous, yet comfortable safari Zambia is the obvious choice. In Zambia you can enjoy walking through the bush with an armed guide, open vehicle safaris both during the day and at night, and boating and canoeing on the Zambezi. Zambia is perfect for a "last family vacation" with older teenagers. Zambia gives you a chance to be active, walks are not strenuous but might cover 5 or 6 miles.
