Zimbabwe Safari

In our view this remains one of the finest countries in Africa for an exciting yet comfortable safari vacation.

Zimbabwe boasts one of Africa's best guide training schemes and some amazing safaris on foot are there to be enjoyed.  In Zimbabwe you might like to travel by canoe and float past hippos and of course enjoy game drives with Africa's finest wildlife guides to show you around.

The great open plains of Hwange are home to over 20,000 elephant and enormous numbers of plains game. The hills and valleys of the Matusadona National Park by Lake Kariba support rhinoceros, lion and antelope, and the World Heritage Site of Mana Pools just near the half mile wide Zambezi River is another strikingly beautiful region.

Zimbabwe has many excellent safari camps and lodges, often owner run and each set in fantastic locations.

These safari lodges are usually located a fair distance from commercial farming areas and towns. We pay the safari camps directly in foreign currency and the only amounts which go to any government body are national park entrance fees. Zimbabwe's safari lodges and camps provide invaluable employment for people from local villages and, in many cases, the local people have taken over the environmental management of national park areas including anti-poaching and wildlife management.

For example, Makalolo Camp, is virtually managing the entire southern part of Hwange National Park. This involves maintaining twenty-six waterholes and the forging relations with the local communities to prevent poaching and encourage good practice with regard to wildlife management.

Why choose to take a Safari Vacation in Zimbabwe?

Zimbabwe has been the first choice for an adventurous and comfortable safari for many years. It's combination of abundant wildlife, fantastic scenery, amazing guides and luxurious lodges is the key to a fantastic safari. Some people are less confident in a visit to Zimbabwe because of the political situation. However, Zimbabwe is a safe place to visit and by doing so you are providing employment in the rural areas and supporting safari lodges which are protecting game in the National Parks from poaching. Zimbabwe is at its best between March and November.
