Safaris
Safaris take place twice a day at dawn and again in the late afternoon in open 4×4 safari vehicles. All safaris are led by an experienced guide and tracker team who help you make the most of your time in the bush. With some 7,000 ha of pristine African bush at your disposal and few other vehicles, you really feel like you are in a vast wilderness. The area is home to a wide variety of game, including Africa’s famed “Big Five”, as well as regular sightings of wild dogs!
The daily safaris in 4×4 vehicles are complimented by walking safaris that are offered after breakfast (weather permitting) which allow guests to experience the bush from a totally different perspective.

A little extra…
Dining at Kitara is always a special affair, and not just because of the delectable food! The lodge team try whenever possible to allow guests to dine outside to fully appreciate the beauty of the African wilderness. Sit around a roaring fire in the lodge’s “boma” under the never ending canopy of stars, or under the shade of your umbrella on the deck at lunch. During the dry winter months when the river stops flowing you may even be offered a river bed breakfast or dinner, truly surrounded by the call of the wild!
