When to visit:
January – April: Summer months, and some of the busiest for tourism to Cape Town. Mostly sunny skies, can be windy. Excellent time to visit, but prices at their highest.
May – August: Winter, days can be cold and wet but never for too long. Sunny winter days are beautiful. July marks the real start of whale season and by late August the West Coast and Namaqualand flowers are in full bloom. Best accommodation prices.
September – October: Temperatures starting to warm up, full whale season and spring blooms in many areas. High season prices start.
November – December: Temperatures continue to rise. November marks the end of the whale season. Most of the rain has passed and high tourism season is in full swing. From around the 15th December the city is usually full to capacity with international and local tourist, and clients wishing to travel during this period are advise to book in advance to guarantee their first choice of accommodation, and car rental is in short supply.
Cape Town and the whole of the Western Cape is a malaria free area.
